The conference will cover various aspects of the history of the First World War in 14 lectures. The focus will be on both military aspects and the "home front". Topics include the history of Tyrolean prisoners of war, the treatment of minorities during the war, the mountain war, aspects of health and medical history as well as war experiences in diaries and correspondence. The second part of the conference is dedicated to the post-war and inter-war period and deals with topics such as political radicalisation, the relationship between religion and politics and the transition of regional society from war to an unstable peace.
